CENTRAL CROSSING GIRLS SOCCER

 

Girls Soccer Meeting
Attention all girls interested in trying out for the Lady Comets Soccer Team (this includes any 8th graders that will be attending Central Crossing for the 2008/2009 school year). There will be a meeting on Wednesday, February 6th at 3:30pm at CCHS in room 150A. If you are interested in trying out, you will need to attend this meeting. If you have questions or cannot attend- please contact Coach Amy Martin at 614-801-6500 as soon as possible.

Winter Conditioning
The Lady Comets Soccer Team will begin their winter conditioning program on Tuesday, February 19th from 3:30pm to 5pm. We will meet at CCHS in front of the weight room. We will condition on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5pm starting February 19th through April 24th. Beginning April 29th through May 29th, we will condition on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5pm. The conditioning program is open to any girl interested in trying out for the team-this includes 8th graders that will be attending CCHS for the 2008/2009 school year. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Amy Martin at 614-801-6500. Hope to see you all there!

Goals were scored by Maria Weals, Lynzee Dick, Jenny Fowler and Brittany Legg had 2 goals. Julie Buechner earned 1 save in goal and Natalie Wolfe earned 3 saves. The Lady Comets Varsity Team finished their regular season record at 9-7. This is the first time the Lady Comets have had a winning season!

The Lady Comets Soccer Team made history last night beating Olentangy at home 2-1. This was the first time that the comets won on their senior night and the first time they have earned a winning record set at 8-7. Goals were scored by Jenny Fowler and senior all-star Christine Ward. Julie Buechner played another strong game in goal earning 13 saves. Go Lady Comets!

Goals were scored by the dynamic sister duo-Christine Ward and Bethany Ward with the 3rd goal being scored by Sarah Anderson. Brittany Legg earned the assist for the 2nd goal. Julie Buechner played a solid game in goal earning 3 saves. The Lady Comets improve their record to 7-7, beating the old streak of only winning 6 games each year for the past 4 years.

Jenny Fowler earned the hat trick last night with all 3 goals. Macy Cobb assisted on the 3rd goal. Julie Buechner played another strong game in goal earning 15 saves. The Lady Comets improve their record to 6-7. JV: Central Crossing 1 Watkins Memorial 0. Goal being scored by Rachel Dorsey. Natalie Wolfe earned the shut-out in goal with 16 saves.

Julie Buechner played a great game in goal with 15 saves and had her first penalty kick save so far this season. JV: Central Crossing 1 Marysville 3. Tarah Hibbler scored the lone goal. Natalie Wolfe played outstanding as goalkeeper earning 24 saves.

The Varsity Team battled it out but fell short. At half time the score was 0-0. The final score ended up at 3-2 with goals scored by Madison Bostard and Christine Ward. Brittany Legg had an assist for the Comets as well. Julie Buechner played outstanding in the goal earning 18 saves. JV: Central Crossing 2 Big Walnut 2. Goals scored by Tarah Hibbler and Lena Beckwith. Natalie Wolfe earned 12 saves as goalkeeper.

The Varsity Team played a solid, aggressive game and lost respectfully 3-0. The Comets held the Cardinals 1-0 until 20 minutes left in the second half when a penalty kick was called on the Comets making the score 2-0. Julie Buechner played an outstanding game in goal earning 19 saves. JV: Central Crossing 0 Thomas Worthington 1. The JV Team lost a heartbreaking 1-0, the goal was scored with only 6 minutes left in the second half. Natalie Wolfe earned 20 saves for the comets.

The Lady Comets Soccer Teams won their home opener last night against Teays Valley. Goals were scored by Jenny Fowler (2), Bethany Ward and Macy Cobb. Julie Buechner earned 12 saves as goalkeeper. Christine Ward led the defense in the back playing a solid, aggressive game at sweeper. JV: Central Crossing 5 Teays Valley 2. Goals scored by Rachel Dorsey, Tara Hibbler, Lena Beckwith (2) and Sara Anderson. Natalie Wolfe earned 6 saves as goalkeeper. The JV record improves to 2-1.

Girls Soccer Team earns OSSCA Award
Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Team for earning the OSSCA (Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association) Team Academic Award. This award is given to any Soccer Team in the State of Ohio who achieves a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher. This award is only granted to one team per division in each of our districts. This award is voted on by the other coaches in our district. Congratulations to our 2005/ 06 Girls Soccer Team and their coach, Amy Martin.

Goals were scored by Jordan Rutan with 4, Sam Meadows with 1 goal, Christy Browning with 1 goal, and Alissa Anderson with 1 goal. Assists were made by Bethany Ward with 3, Megan Meade with 1, and Lauren Pritt with 1. Mindy Fraizer had 3 great nutmegs increasing her total to 8 so far this season! Christy Browning and Julie Buechner had a combined total of 3 goalie saves. The offensive player of the game was Jordan Rutan and the defensive player of the game was Mindy Fraizer. Great Job Lady Comets.

Sarah Anderson, Julie Buechner, and Alissa Lane all played goalie and had 7 saves. The JV Girls Soccer Team was victorious over Westland with a score of 6-0. Shandi Rice had 3 goals, Lynzee Dick had 2 goals, and Emma Sanders had one goal. Amber Gordon had an assist on a goal. Alissa Lane and Lynzee Dick both played goalie and had a combined total of 2 saves.

The Varsity Team played a fantastic game against Grove City. Last years loss was 6-0 and this years loss was 2-0. Sarah Anderson was goalie with 23 awesome saves. Christine Ward had an amazing non goalie save. No goals were scored against Central Crossing in the second half. The JV team played an outstanding game against Grove City. Despite the loss, the JV team improved from a score of 12-2 last year to 4-1. Julie Buechner was goalie making great saves. Shandi Rice made the goal for the JV team! Each team played their best and put forth tremendous effort.

The Lady Comets Soccer Teams played an excellent, well fought game. The Varsity Team played one of the best games this season and held Westerville South to 0-0 at half time. The girls played intense and aggressive, but unfortunately ended up losing the game with a score of 1-0 in the last 11 minutes of the game. Christy Browning took in 18 saves as goalkeeper last night for the Comets. The JV's played hard and aggressive but unfortunately fell to Westerville South 3-0. Alissa Lane brought home 11 saves in goal last night for the Comets.

The Varsity Girls beat Mt. Vernon 2-1 playing an awesome game. Both goals were scored by Brittany Doherty with assists by Mindy Frazier and Jenny Fowler. Christy Browning brought in 14 saves as goalkeeper, playing a phenomenal game once again. The JV Girls came back from being behind 3-0 at halftime to tying the game 3-3. Goals were scored by Sara Anderson, Brittany Legg and Shandi Rice. Alissa Lane brought home 9 saves in goal last night with Amanda Gatshall bringing in her first non-goalie save. Great job Lady Comets!

The Lady Comets Soccer Teams played a well-fought game last night against Watkins Memorial. The JV team beat Watkins with a score of 3-1. Goals were scored by Sara Anderson with 2 goals and Lindsay Dick with 1 goal. Alissa Lane brought home the win in goal with 9 saves. This was a great win last night compared to last year's score with a loss of 10-0. Great job ladies! The Varsity Team played a hard, tough game last night and unfortunately lost with a score of 3-1. The lone goal was scored by Alissa Anderson with assist by Brittany Doherty. Christy Browning played an excellent game in goal last night bringing in 17 saves for the Comets. Channing Capehart and Christine Ward played outstanding defense with Jenny Fowler playing tough and aggressive in the middle.

The JV Team played an outstanding game last night continuing their 3 game winning streak! Goals were scored by Brittany Legg with 2 goals and Tara Hibbler with 1 goal. Assists were given by Brittany Legg, Shandi Rice and Tara Hibbler. Alissa Lane took home the win in goal with 8 saves. The varsity suffered a tough loss last night. The girls played extremely hard and aggressive. The Lady Comets held the Eagles to a 0-0 match until the last 6 minutes when the Eagles scored off of a cross. Christy Browning played an excellent game in goal bringing in 19 saves for the Comets. Thanks to all of the students, staff and fans who came out last night to support our Girls Soccer Teams!

Goals were scored by Brittany Legg and Alice McCutchen. Alissa Lane took home her second shut-out of the season with 5 saves as goalkeeper. The Lady Comets Varsity Team also won last night with a score of 5-2, improving their league record to 1-1 and overall record to 5-4. Goals were scored by Brittany Doherty with 4 goals and Alissa Anderson with 1. Assists were given by Jordan Rutan and Brittany Doherty.
